The Hoover Track Foundation is pleased to announce the 2011 SouthEast XC Showdown will be held October 8 at Veterans Park on Valleydale Road in Hoover, AL. (This is an annual event on the second Saturday in October, so mark your calendars! )

We listened to your comments and this year will combine the Large School and Small School High School races into a Silver Division High School 5K race.  This will shorten the day and should provide for some exciting competitive races in addition to the All American Championship races.  We will also contest collegiate (8K Men and 5K Women) and middle school 2 mile races. As predicted, 2010 was the biggest year yet at Veterans Park with over 1700 entries!  The weather was a little warmer and drier than we would have liked, but it was a beautiful fall (or maybe late summer) day!  The results are posted and links to photos, interviews, articles, and videos are below:  Don't forget meet apparel can be seen and ordered from: our Cool Stuff page prior to the meet and at the onsite stores on race day.

Our experienced meet management team is renowned for hosting such prestigious XC meets at Veterans Park as the Great American XC Festival 2005 - 2008, Nike Team Nationals SE Regional in 2007, the NCAA D-II Gulf South Conference XC Championships 2008 - 2010, the 2010 NCAA D-I South Region XC Championships, and the 2010 USATF Junior Olympic National XC Championships.

We know you have limited budgets and limited meet opportunities.   Our philosophy is to provide the best value for you, while making this an exciting experience that you and your team will cherish long after you’ve left our city.  We do this by starting with a challenging, picturesque, spectator friendly, permanent cross country course, adding some of the top teams in the region, then incorporating pageantry, including marching drum lines, flag corps, the military, etc., to enhance the cross country experience.  Each race will have unique medals for the top 25 runners and special awards for the top 3 teams.

We have plenty of things to do in Hoover and the Birmingham area.  This year our host hotel is the brand new Homewood Suites on Riverchase Parkway.  We would appreciate you considering staying with our sponsoring hotels.
