Hoover Track Foundation Scholarships
The Hoover Track Foundation (HTF) is pleased and excited to announce winners of the 2011 scholarships:
(1) Toni Hawkins, Pelham High School - $2,500 HTF scholarship to attend the University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB);
(2) Jack Morgan, Mountain Brook High School - $2,500 HTF scholarship to attend Furman University; and
(3) Eden Williams, Homewood High School - $2,000 HTF/ Gulf South Conference scholarship to attend the University of Alabama Huntsville (UAH).
We are very excited that, due to your support of our events, we were able to increase the scholarships from our inaugural year (2010) and hope to continue supporting athletes at this level in 2012!
The 2010 inaugural scholarships were awarded to three high school athletes:
The GulfSouth/HTF $1000.00 scholarship was awarded to Hanna Sharrow (Hoover High School) who is competing at West Alabama University.
A HTF $500.00 scholarship was awarded each to Layton Dorsett and Joey Bemowski (both from Mountain Brook High School) who are competing for Samford University and the University of Alabama Huntsville, respectively.

Purpose:
To provide scholarships to local athletes who have excelled in track and field, as well as academics, and are students of good character.
Scholarship Awards:
Annual awards will be determined by the Hoover Track Foundation (HTF), based on annual revenues with a minimum of two annual awards of $2500.00.
All awards shall be given on a non-discriminatory basis, with complete disclosure of the final list of candidates. Some awards maybe directed or stipulated by contributors to the HTF, such Colleges, Cities, or any other group, wishing to use the HTF to create awards.
In 2010 and 2011 HTF awarded three scholarships each year. In 2012 we will offer at least two $2500.00 scholarships to student athletes attending the college of his/her choice. Also, a $1000.00 scholarship will be awarded to a student athlete attending a Gulf South Conference College.
Eligibility:
To be eligible, the applicant must be a graduating high school senior, participating in cross country and/or track and field in college, and be a current resident of either Jefferson or Shelby County, Alabama.
Applications:
All applications must be made via the HTF Scholarship Application form. Recommendations from high school coaches and/or track officials are highly encouraged and must be submitted with the application. Applications are due April 10, 2012.
Exemptions:
All student athletes or related family members of board members of the HTF are not eligible for awards.
Selection Committee:
The Committee consists of three members from the Birmingham track community. The committee will review the applications and select a list of finalists to be submitted to the HTF Board for final selection. The HTF Board may request personal interviews if needed. The final recipient of each award will be decided by a majority of the votes from the Board.
Payments:
Awards shall be made directly to the college of the individual winners on their behalf.
